Frequently asked questions.
Everything people usually ask before hosting a website with us. If your question isn't here, send it over or call 814-538-9194. A person in Clarion County answers.
What does your hosting include?
US-based hosting with free support and storage sized to your plan. We keep the servers balanced rather than over-selling them, so every site has the resources it needs to run smoothly. Every plan also comes with a discounted hourly rate for any extra work you ask us to do. Email at your domain is handled through Microsoft 365. See the email question below.
How much does hosting cost?
Plans start at $15/month for 10 GB of storage and range up to $75/month for 100 GB. Every plan includes free US-based hosting support. If you outgrow a plan, or aren't using what you pay for, we'll move you to the right size. Email is separate, so you only pay for the mailboxes you actually use.
Can you build the website too, or just host it?
Both. Most of our hosting clients also had their site designed and built by us. We handle the goals and design conversation, the build, the launch, and then the hosting and upkeep afterward, so there's one local contact for the whole thing.
How does a new website project work?
Three steps. We talk through your goals and show you design concepts first, so you see the direction before we write a line of code. Then we build it, responsive and fast on every device. Then you review a private link, give the green light, and we launch. After that we host it and keep it updated. The full process.
I already have a website. Can you take it over?
Yes. We regularly transfer existing sites onto our hosting and modernize them along the way. We handle the technical side of the move (files, database, email, DNS) and your site stays online while it happens. Old addresses are redirected, so links and search results keep working. See how a move runs.
Where are your servers?
In two US datacenters: a primary server in Atlanta and an identical standby in San Francisco, at two different hosting companies on two separate power grids. We have complete root control over both. That matters: because we're not boxed into a hosting company's control panel, we can set up custom programs and processes for your business, beyond standard cookie-cutter hosting. How we keep your site online.
What happens if your server goes down?
Your site moves to the standby. The two servers stay in sync over an encrypted tunnel, and the standby holds current copies of the database, files, and security certificates, so a failover produces no browser warnings. We have rehearsed it as a live exercise, both directions, rather than hoping the plan works on the day. The full picture is on the Reliability page.
Are my files backed up?
Every night, encrypted before they leave the server, to a third company in a third location. We keep seven daily, four weekly, and six monthly snapshots, so recovery is possible from any point in the last six months. Restores are tested, not assumed: a full restore onto a different server has been verified byte-for-byte.
What happens if my site suddenly gets a lot of traffic?
Nothing bad. A big sale, a holiday rush, a post that takes off: we've got you covered. If the extra traffic keeps up, we'll work with you to move to a plan that fits the new normal. And it works both ways: if you're not using what you're paying for, we'll help you switch to a smaller plan and save money.
Do I get email addresses at my own domain?
Yes, through Microsoft 365. Instead of bolting email onto the web server, we set up info@, sales@, and the rest of your addresses on Microsoft's mail platform: the same Outlook mail, calendars, and spam filtering big companies use, with your website hosting completely unaffected if you ever change either one. We handle the domain setup and connect it all for you.
Mailbox licenses are billed separately by Microsoft at their standard per-mailbox pricing, so you only pay for the mailboxes you actually use.
Who do I actually talk to when something goes wrong?
Jonathan, the person who built and runs the servers. We're in Knox, Pennsylvania, and clients work directly with us: no ticket queue three time zones away, no first-tier script reader. Call 814-538-9194.
I need more than shared hosting. Do you offer servers?
Yes. Virtual Private Servers with full root access, unlimited traffic at up to 1 Gbit/s, NVMe SSD storage, and a 99.9% uptime guarantee. Your choice of AlmaLinux, Debian, Rocky Linux, or Ubuntu. The right fit when you need high performance and total control. Get in touch for pricing.
Can my site have logins, or two-factor authentication?
Yes. We build sign-ins for customers, members, or staff, with members-only pages and protected downloads behind them, and two-factor authentication is available for any of them.
Can you register or manage my domain name?
Yes. We can register a new domain for you, or manage one you already own. Either way we handle the DNS so your website and email point where they should.
Is there a contract? What if I want to leave?
Most of our sites don't have contracts, though we're open to one if you'd prefer it. And you're never locked in: if you decide to leave, your new web host can copy your files right off the server, and for more involved or technical sites we can do a full site export at our usual hourly rate.
